Where do I take my child for their Best Start Assessment? What will happen during this time?
The assessment will run for approximately 30-40 minutes. You do not require to bring anything for this assessment, however are welcome to pack a water bottle for your child if you would like!
Upon arrival, please check in at our school office and take a seat under our library cola (this is just outside of our school office). Please take a seat, ensure your are practicing a safe social distance of 1.5m, and wait patiently for one of our Kindergarten staff to see you.
Our Kindergarten staff will conduct the assessment in one of our Kindergarten classrooms. You are more than welcome to walk down with your child once they have been collected by a staff member, however we ask that you patiently wait outside of the Kindergarten room during the assessment.
During your child's Best Start Assessment, we will provide you with a parent survey where you can let us know anything and everything you would like us to know about your child. You will also be provided with some information regarding your childs' first day and first week of school.
Please note that the teacher running your childs' assessment does not indicate who your childs' teacher will be. All students will find out who their teacher is on their first day of school.
Lastly, we want to make sure this is a super fun and positive experience for your child! The assessment is a chance for us to get to know all of our new Kindy friends, and there is absolutely no expectation of what they can or can't do.
We look forward to meeting all of our 2022 Kindy friends and families in the coming weeks!
